ANSWERS

[A]—incorrect: “There is none who does good, no, not one” (Rom. 3:12 NKV). “No one is righteous— not even one” (Rom. 3:10 NLT); “Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins” (Eccl. 7:20 NIV).

[B]—incorrect: “A person is not justified by works of the Law [10 commandments plus] … for by works of the Law no flesh [person] will be justified [saved or go to heaven]” (Gal. 2:16); “Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it” (James 2:10 BSB). Being saved by keeping the Law demands 100% compliance.

[C]—incorrect: “If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless” (James 1:26 NLT). “All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).

[D]—incorrect

[E]—correct

Give Jesus Christ a hearing: “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God [in heaven]” (John 3:3 NLT). “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NIV).

The most important question is how can one be born again?

A desperate jailer asked the apostle Paul this life and death question, “What must I do to be saved [or be born again]?” (Acts 16:30).

Jesus, Paul, and John gave a simple answer to the question of how to be born again:

Jesus: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Paul: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved [be born again]” (Acts 16:31).

John: “Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God” (1 John 5:1).

The Simplicity of New Birth

Being born again is as simple as drinking a cup of water when you are thirsty. It’s free—it’s all grace. Jesus Christ paid for our sins on the cross—that’s grace. He has done the work for us. His death and resurrection on the third day canceled our sins and opens heaven’s door inviting us to enter by faith alone in Christ alone.

If you wholeheartedly accept this truth and put your trust entirely in Christ alone, you will be born again now. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast” (Eph. 2:8-9 ESV). God guarantees it! “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them” (John 3:36 NIV).
